The way I see it!
Our trip to Wilsey was truly a blessing. Not to our flesh. To our flesh it was difficult to adjust. The ride getting there was long and when we rolled up our sleeves to work some of us got bug bits or sun burned. One person stepped on a nail -- ouch, another had a wall that was being framed fall on him. There were lots of scraps, scratches and minor injuries. The dorm we were scheduled to stay in was not ready when we arrived, so many had to make do. The showers for the guys were not ready till the second day! In their frustration someone commented that the whole affair was terribly disorganized. I told him it was not disorganized but it was a total disaster. But that was OK. None of that really mattered to me! And I don't really think it mattered to anyone else. What I saw were about 200 people who came to serve. I saw folks that were in Love with our Lord. They had not come together because it was the comfortable thing to do. They came together because they wanted to make a difference in the lives of another person. They wanted to just be a servant. I watched young people get up early in the morning and work all day in 100 degree weather to go to a person's house they did not even know and pull weeds or cut grass and shrubs. I watched as dozens of young people went to a perfect strangers house to paint and fix it up. I watched as people cooked and cooked some more to feed a hungry crowd. What impressed me most was the joy in their labors. No one got paid a pay check and yet they worked in the hot sun or hot kitchen with out so much as a complaint. What I found was everyone who went to Wilsey was impacted in some way for the good. I know in all the adversity God drew me closer to himself. We went there to give of our selves to help a town in the midwest and the people in it and found we got back more than we gave.
And that is the way I see it
